Last night a group of friends and I went to Liquid Joe's to listen to the band Ediphonic. One of the guys in the band is the band/orchestra teacher at my school so we decided to go hear him play (one other teacher was in the group). I really liked their music-- the melodies are catchy, they are fun to watch with 2 guitarists, a drummer, a saxophone, and a baritone and a little red head singer.
One funny moment came after the band was done and the bar had cleared out a little bit. I was standing between the other four people in the group with a little space between the guys and me where people would occasionally cut through to leave. A line of guys was passing by and the last guy totally tripped on my foot! I guess it was sticking slightly out into the "walkway" but it was still really close to me, so how he tripped, I have no idea! So, he trips, almost falls and I turned to look at him and he stands upright, comes over to me. He grabs my arm, holds on, stares intently into my eyes and says, "I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. You're beautiful (long pause). I'm sorry." Then he lets go of his tight grip on my arm and saunters away!
The guys in my group are watching this little exchange and cracking up and are dying to know what the guy said! The girls in our group come back and I tell them what happened and one of my friends says, "Well, he's obviously drunk," After a second I wanted to ask her, "So, does that mean I'm not beautiful since some drunk guy said it and he obviously wouldn't know what he's talking about?!" The other girls says, "So, is he apologizing because you're beautiful?" The guys, meanwhile, are still laughing and one says, "I think he just had the courage to say it since he's drunk."
Good times! I can honestly say that's the first time I've been hit on in a bar!
