20 Things I Learned from my Trip to Orlando

1. When your car is totaled (my younger sister got in a wreck about a week before I got there) and you have to get another one, the insurance company isn't really helpful and $1,000 is not enough of a down payment when trying to buy a car.

2. The car salesmen these days are desperate enough to offer $1,400 rebates off brand new Corollas in addition to the $1,000 rebate Toyota already offers

2. People in jealous fits are capable of weird things (like slashing tires and putting sugar in gas tanks)

3. At Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville at Universal's City Walk you pay more for the atmosphere (Buffet songs, volcano, plates with lines from his songs, etc.)than for the food (it's really good but over priced)

4. Going to shooting ranges and practicing my shot makes my jaw hurt because I apparently clench my teeth with every blast

5. I have acclimated to Utah weather more than I thought-- at the beach when it was 79 degrees, I was pretty comfy while my never-left-Florida-sisters were freezing

6. I like Life Saver jelly beans more than Starburst jelly beans

7. I still flinch when hearing rustling in bushes at the edge of sidewalks even though I know it's probably just a lizard-- fear of snakes is what it is!

8. Allergy eye drops work at taking away itchiness and redness when you're allergic to cats and you can't escape (my sister's sister-in-law has 3 and they all (girl and cats) live in my sister's house)

9. It's weird going to church in the building you went to when you were 11-13, especially when you see people you've known since then; it's like a really weird time warp

10. Hanging around WalMart with my sister and nephew was way more fun than it really should be-- but, hey, they have fun sunglasses to try on, necklaces to make fun of, hats to model...

11. If you didn't like a guy before you move, going out with him while you're visiting isn't going to change anything

12. It's weird to see your little sister nursing a baby but sort of cool at the same time

13. Watching chick flicks with the sisters is still way more fun than with anyone else

14. Palm trees and beach sand make me grin :) more than ever before

15. I apparently feel trapped in the SL Valley because seeing the flat, flat land when we landed made me heave a sigh of relief

16. It's harder to run in humidity than I thought it would be, especially since the elevation is less than 75 feet above sea level and I'm used to 5,000.

17. Looking at Disney merchandise makes me feel like I'm home (it must have something to do with having season passes there for years growing up)

18. I realized my two favorite colors are blue and green because they remind me of water (lakes, oceans) and foliage (tropical plants, palm trees) and they relax me

19. I finally understand why my mom's siblings have always told me about their memories of my being born and being little-- the first nephew/niece really will hold a special place in your heart

20.Utah is where I'm supposed to be right now even though I would move back to Orlando in a heartbeat given the right opportunity

So what was the car shopping about?
You know, while you lived in Florida, I was hoping to have some reason to visit you there. I still haven't ever been there. Paul got to go last year for a work conference and we toyed with the idea of me going, but it would have been pretty difficult. Glad you got to go and play for awhile.

Laurel totaled her car in an accident about a week before I got there so we had to get her a new one. We ended up looking at used cars and got her a Tuscon (she likes it since she was born there!)
