So, I don't know if this is a record for me, but I just finished a 619 page book in about 8 hours. I started The Host by Stephenie Meyer last night (around 8:30pm stopped at 2:30am) and picked it back up tonight (about 8pm and finished about 10:30pm) and am now done reading it (mentally, I'm not quite done with it yet, however).
AMAZING! I loved this book! It's probably my favorite out of everything I read this summer. The story starts off sort of weird sci-fi-ish but then grabs you in and doesn't let go until the last page is read and the book is shut.
Last night I dreamed about the main character, Wanda and her dilemmas living on earth (she's an alien life form) and kept thinking about it all day until I got home and was able to finish it! I am so not a sci-fi fan by any stretch of the imagination but this book is just so interesting that you sort of forget about aliens and humans and just love the characters and want the best for them.
I think a great lesson in the book is about how love is unconditional and it grows through sacrifice and really seeing "people" for who they are.
