The Relief Society Meeting

My stake had tickets to the General Relief Society meeting and since I had never been to a meeting in the Conference Center, I asked for three and my mom, sister-in-law, and I went! It was a great time together-- especially since we hardly ever get to spend time with just my sister-in-law without my brother. We got to talk about "girl" stuff and got to know each other better!

I cried during Sister Thompson's talk-- the part where she talked about her life plans of going to college, getting married, having four kids, and staying active in the church. But, graduating from college, going on a mission, going to graduate school and working in her profession for years is what actually happened; the only part of her life goals that survived was staying active in the church "and what a difference that has made." She mentioned that just because life doesn't happen the way we expect, God still loves us and still wants us to be happy, and living the Gospel and staying close to the Lord are vital parts of that.

It reminded me of a quote I read somewhere, "God doesn't love you because of anything you've done or haven't done. He loves you because of who He is."
