"Is that a new moon?!"

I went with a couple friends to see "New Moon" Friday night and I must say, it was better than I really expected it to be. When I first saw "Twilight" last year I didn't really like it: it was too much like watching the book only without my great imagination guiding the scenes and characters. The latest installment of the saga was much better and obviously had a better director (and larger budget).

I love being in theaters with people who react to things and this movie was PERFECT for watching with a theater full of women (and the men in their lives who were dragged along). When Edward first appears on screen there was a collect sigh/gasp because, he does look really good with his little smirk and swagger walking towards Bella! But, the crowd reaction to when Jacob tries to stop Bella's bleeding head was, in a word, classic! It was so hilarious to hear everyone breathe all at the same time when a set of very chiseled, very tan male abs is suddenly 500% times life sized!
Jacob: Here, let me help you with that, Bella.
audience: oooooohhhhh
Bella: You're . . . uh . . . beautiful
audience: gigglegiggle

In the books, I am very pro-Edward but I must say, in the movies, I'm more of a Jacob fan!

Something else I liked about this movie is that the humor that is in all the books comes across better and in larger amounts. One dialogue that I really liked is between Edward and Bella about how old she is on her 18th birthday. She's lamenting she's older than him now and he says
E: I'm actually 104 so who's dating someone older now?
B: Ew! You're an old man! Gross!
