Yesterday, I had my Taekwon Do testing for my yellow belt! I was a lot less nervous than the first time I tested, something I attribute to the fact that all the judges are people I am now familiar with after the TKD camp in Aug. and from just being around the system. Plus, I realized that even if you mess up, they give you about 3 chances to do any skill correctly, and you will still pass. Also, in my testing group were the other 4 people from my class testing up to yellow-- people I'm used to and that gave me confidence. I got to be the pace setter for the routines we had to demonstrate, which helped out a ton since I got to do them at the pace I practice on!
At the end, my instructor's wife came up to me and said, "You did really well. I think you'll be in contention for top score!" Cool!
At the end of testing, I ended up having the 2nd place score by 1/2 point . . . not too shabby!
Now I get new skills to work on :)
(also, my TKD "buddy" from testing in Aug was there and we ended up talking whenever we had a chance. He remembered stuff we'd talked about 4 months ago and gave me encouragement and calmed my nerves before we started. He's still cute and it was again, nice to talk to a cute, normal guy!)
