If you work with people who are around the poverty level and struggle with understanding them... this is the book for you!! I just read it and am amazed at how much I have misunderstood my below-poverty-level students this whole time. It's not that they're dumb or completely disrespectful on purpose- it's the mental framework they've been programmed with. This is TOTALLY a must read!
(ps The Church Welfare Department is making it a must read for their employees- that's how I heard about it-- from my Dad who stopped reading it for a week so I could be re-motivated to deal with my students' problems)
