that's really far... part 2

So, I have started training for the Pioneer Day Marathon on July 24th. Honestly, I don't know if I'll actually make it since I'll be in Guatemala from July 10-17 (and maybe a little longer depending on extra travel) and won't be able to do my running right before the race. But, I am training!

My friend and I researched different running plans and talked to a few people and settled on a schedule to get us ready for 26 miles in 19 weeks. This is Week 2.

Last week I ran 3 miles straight for the first time in about two years and felt pretty good about myself. I was going to run 4 on Saturday, but Mother Nature played a nasty, nasty trick and made it snow ALL DAY LONG and I refused to run in slushy snow and cold wind.

So, today I ran 4 miles-- well, I did 4 mile repeats with .15 mile rests in between (I know the distance because the park where I run is marked off for every .1 mile and the whole circuit is 1.15 miles).  Anyway. I ran my miles-- all 4 of them in 10 min!! I thought for sure the last couple would be more than that, but when I checked my time, they all came in at 10 min. I know it's not super incredible or anything, but still, I'm pretty proud of myself!

I can definitely tell that I'm 31 (eek-- did I say that out loud?) because I'm way more stiff than I was a couple years ago when I was running more frequently than now.

My challenge is running on the days I have Taekwon Do, since I pretty much have to hurry home, go run, and have time to recoup before getting beat up martial arts style!

Wish me luck!
