Funny story here: We ran into a friend from SLC who was at the temple for one his friend's wedding. He introduced us to his father, who was impressed his son had good looking female friends. The dad left us to talk to some other people but returned with a camera. "Hey, get your arms around these good looking girls so we can take a picture," he said. So, Gretchen and I posed with the guy in the middle as his dad took the picture. Then, the dad came up to me, pointed to my silver bracelet and told his son, "Go for this one. She looks like she has money. Look at this, she has money. You need this one." My response to this was to get closer to his dad and ask quietly, "You want your son to be a gold digger?" The dad said back, "He doesn't even get it. Yeah, he needs someone with money." Our friend didn't respond more than to just sort of smile at his dad, prompting his dad to say, "Son, go for this one (pointing to me) look at her legs. She's got beautiful legs." Um. Excuse me? I sort of walked away and started laughing, but not before I looked at the guy to see him have this look of utter amazement on his face accompanied by sort of a I'm-going-to-ignore-everything-Dad-says look. What's sort of funny is that up to this point, the guy hadn't really even talked to me and yet as soon as his dad started talking about me, he finally started responding when I said something. Hopefully the dad doesn't bother the guy about me or he'll probaby never talk to me again when I run into him at parties!
