My wonderful mother at the General Relief Society Meeting September 25, 2010.
The week after this meeting, my mom went to the doctor because of some pain in her abdomen. Blood test, sonogram, blood test, CT scan and blood test later, she and my dad were told she has cancer that has metastasized into her abdomen. This Tuesday, she will undergo a six hour surgery removing cancer cells where ever they are found. Please include her in your prayers as the step after surgery involves six months of chemotherapy.
I'd always heard that cancer is life changing, but I didn't realize that "life changing" means for everyone connected to the one where cancer was found. "Cancer" is in every thought, is behind every thought, and is always present in every moment of everyday. "Cancer" is taking over our lives and there's no going back.

I've been thinking about you so much. I finally got a hold of my mom yesterday to tell her the bad news, and she and my dad are also praying for your mom and your entire family. Good luck today. I love you!
I read your blog to my mom. We cried together. We love you.
She would like to read your blog to her students as she tries to explain the affects of cancer on peoples lives. Would you allow her to do that?
Yes, Mina, you can read it to your students.
