General Conference weekend, in brief

 We met up with my roommate and her boyfriend who was visiting from Guatemala for Sat Afternoon's session.

 There was a blizzard that night.

The next day, Sunday, at breakfast, he gave me a promise ring! I was there at breakfast before Conference and we were talking about how being boyfriend/girlfriend just doesn't quite cut it yet and so, he brought out this ring, sat down next to me and said, "Adrienne, you are the most amazing person and I love you. This ring means that we are more committed." He now promises that he will ask me to marry him! YEAH!!!!!!!! I know this seems like an odd step and we should just get engaged, but he still has to talk to the ex about what to do with their sealing and we have paperwork to do... so it's kind of more complicated that it might otherwise be.

Most everyone thinks we're engaged and it's easier to just say we are engaged but just haven't picked a date yet. I've had some awkward moments though! In his ward's Relief Society, for example, "Sister, you belong to the single young man in our ward, don't you?"
"Um. Yes. Yes. I do."
A few minutes later, the one woman I know in his ward (the wife of my former principal) comes in, sees the ring and announces to the room, "Miss Adrienne is engaged!"
The Relief Society pres looks at me, "You didn't tell us you are ENGAGED! I guess we will be a lot more of you, aren't we?"
Awk.Ward.
Then, when Mike and the kids were waiting in the hall for me, lots of women stopped to say congrats to him, leaving the poor kids bewildered about what they were talking about. We haven't said anything to them yet.

So, I have a promise and a ring and I'm hoping for a July 9th date at the Draper Temple. He just needs a job, responsible man that he is, and then hopefully we can get the paperwork done so he can be sealed again!!
