Sunday-- Dinner with the fam to celebrate Mom and Alan's birthdays. We had a homemade carrot cake and we sang happy birthday to both of them. Sometimes I feel like Mom is still around and it's so strange to not hear her laugh or talk to her. I. Really. Miss. Her.
On the plus side, Alan and family were also up and that little niece of mine is the cutest thing ever, and boy! does she LOVE her grandpa. When we walked in, Dad was on the couch lifting Brisa up the air and both of them were just laughing in laughing. Dad does this thing where he chases her around with his fingers wiggling about chest high that she's started to imitate: she gets right up to him, holds up her hands and wiggles them, touches his fingers, and then runs! He chases her around until she stops, waiting to be tickled. Brisa has always loved Grandpa and I think it's really good for my dad to have a little person so into him.
I wasn't feeling too hot (even after a two hour nap to recover from three hours of sitting in Church) and Dad teased me with the carrot cake saying that all the vitamins I need are all in there. If only.
Monday-- I stayed home again, thinking that if I couldn't handle sitting at church, I wasn't going to handle dealing with Jr High kids all day. I got totally addicted to an iPod game: Chicktionary. So fun! I made dinner for the BF and kids and they hung out until they wore me out.
Tuesday-- Got to school, feeling lightheaded as I got stuff from my box and was absconded by the vice principal who said, "Adrienne! It's good to see you. No, really. I heard you looked like a zombie on Friday, so it's really good to see you here." Nice. Then, the principal called me into his office to ask if I would be willing to change the Winter Assembly to a week earlier because he wants to have a Polynesian Assembly the last week of school in Dec. but doesn't want two assemblies in a week. At this point, I flopped down on the couch so I wouldn't faint and really didn't care. (I mean, both dances have been cancelled this year, the spirit assembly had to be in the auditorium... nothing with student government works this year.) Then, the vice principal told me that I'll be switching my second period class with another class tomorrow due to some weird scheduling changes they're making. (A story for another day) I barely survived my day and got home exhausted with a spitting headache, but I survived! I made dinner again for the BF and kids- shepherd's pie- which the kids didn't like and I felt bad for making them eat the green beans in it but it took a lot of effort to make it and I wasn't feeling super great by 6:30 when they finally got here.
Wednesday-- When I got to school I found out my 2nd period class had already been taken out of my gradebook on the computer but my department chair came to me during 1st to tell me she though we should wait until Monday to make class switches since the counseling center didn't print new schedules yet. I was also informed that the teacher they hired to teach 2 periods of English during the day isn't certified and will be doing her student teaching 2nd semester and I'll be her mentor teacher. The department chair came back halfway through 1st to tell me we were going to switch classes 2nd so I needed to send my kids (without warning, mind you) to the new teacher in the other hallway. Sad. I got a bunch of honors kids from another teacher who were freaking out over their grades and assignments and mad that I only have 35 desks and their class has 40 kids in it so some of them are going to have to sit at the back table. Geesh! I convinced them to give me until Friday to get caught up on their grades and figure out what was going on.
Meanwhile, during Enrichment/Intervention, I had to meet with Student Government kids to get them to plan out advertising for the food drive that starts next week and only half of them came. During my prep time I had to go to the library to get trained on this new management program the district is requiring us to use to keep track of assignments and grades and such where the kids can always access them. It took the whole time and I still don't completely understand how to use it.
Wednesday I again made dinner for the troops but the BF had work calls to make and work stuff to do so I fed the kids dinner and entertained them for the evening. I made fettuccine alfredo, which they like; I figure dinner compromise's every other day are a good thing.
Thursday-- Had a revolt in 2nd period -- if I lose my patience for one moment, they quit working, start mocking me and are generally obnoxious. Kids scraped off the bad grades on their grade slips (they have slips that tell them if they have to go to tutoring or get to go play during Intervention/Enrichment) and were planning on going to play in the gym. I caught them doing this, took their falsified slips and they ran away from me or walked out of the room. At a normal school, behavior like this is un-tolerated and is punished, but at my school, the admin just said, "If I were a kid I would have done the same thing." Awesome. Love administrative support.
The BF had a work meeting late and I was pretty tired after today, so I didn't have to make dinner and spent the evening grading and talking to my roommate.
Overall, I'm feeling soooo much better than last week and even better than Tuesday. The vitamins are making a huge difference but when I get tired I still have trouble breathing, so I just take it easy for a while and then I'm ok.

What a nightmare. I work for the school district here in Heber and while we are somewhat disorganized and have communication problems...they are only minor, a mere fraction of your drama. This is terrible. Keep up the good work.
