Vacation plans in June with Grandma

Yesterday, I was downtown so I stopped by my grandma's place to visit for a little while since I hadn't really talked to her since Christmas Eve. Amazingly, I was there for about 5 hours and it was just a good time (sometimes we don't get along so well...)!

Grandma wants to go back to Michigan, where she's from, this year to see her siblings but at the age of 79, it's not exactly a good idea for her to be driving alone as she had for years and years. I volunteered to go with her in June when I'm done with school and you should have seen her face light up! I can't remember seeing her so excited! As soon as I said that, she started thinking of trip plans and then she clapped her hands and said, "We could go to Mackinac Island! Wouldn't that be fun?!"

Let me just say, I have heard about Mackinac Island my entire life from her and I have wanted to go since I first saw "Somewhere in Time" with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymore when I was about 10 years old. Because I have heard about the island from my grandma, there really isn't anyone I would rather go there with!

I've been thinking about how much I miss my mom's parents lately; I wish I'd had more time with them. When Grandma suggested this little adventure, I immediately thought that if I don't take this opportunity to have some good memories with her, I will regret it for the rest of my life. So, now, I have plans for June to drive for 3 days to Michigan with Grandma to visit her siblings, cousins, and friends and to spend 3 days up on Mackinac Island!
