Today we drove all the way across Nebraska and most of Iowa to arrive in Amana, Iowa (right next to Iowa City), home of the Amana Colonies. Pretty much it's a group of townships established by another group like the Amish. We had dinner at this little restaurant that serves German foods-- I had bratworst with a great spicy German mustard.Today the weather held, even though the Weather Channel said we might have tornadoes. Where we were yesterday had tornadoes today, which makes me extremely grateful for leaving one day earlier than we planned.
Today we just drove and drove. We got through Omaha, Nebraska and DesMoines, Iowa-- both cities were bigger than I thought they'd be...
As we were driving today I thought of different movies-- first, "Twister" because in the morning the sky was dark, the clouds low, and the ground flat with sporadic houses and cows ("We've got cows!"). Second movie: "The Field of Dreams" because they plant a corn field like the ones we passed "so they will come". Third movie: "Star Trek" (the new one) because there are huge wind electric generators everywhere surrounded by farms and it reminded me of James T. Kirk flying around on his bike with all the space towers around him.

I like to see where you are and how far you go in a day, maybe because I've never been where you're going. Thanks for sharing!
