Day 16

One joy scatters a hundred griefs.
Chinese Proverb
Our good news for the day is that my sister had a brand new baby girl today, Joylee Faith! My mom was really excited my sister had a girl so now she has one of each.

I took the day off again today to be with my mom because she asked me to. My mom doesn't ask for anything so last night when she asked me to be here today, I immediately called subfinder and took the day off.

Our other good news today is that the doctor came in a said that she gets to go home tomorrow!!!

Today she ended up with a big ol' rash on her belly so the Dr. prescribed some benedryl and it knocked her out for a couple of hours. When my sister called to tell us about the baby, she sort of just said, "yay" and fell back asleep (poor thing). We've taken a couple of walks around the hallway, we went downstairs and got some fresh air- she hadn't felt fresh air in over a week now, and started playing Boggle again. I knew that as soon as we started playing we would get visitors and it worked! Mom's best friend from across the street came over with her husband. Then, the RS pres and one of my mom's counselors came by (I'm sitting here listening to them all catch up) to visit.

We are still waiting on the oncologist to give us the new colon cancer plan. I'm concerned that she still doesn't want to eat much. She's had some green jell-o, some ginger ale, club crackers, one can of Ensure, and ... oh, wait, that's all she's had today. She hasn't eaten much in three weeks so it's understandable that her stomach has shrunk. Hopefully, once they start chemo her intestines will start to feel better and she'll want to eat more.

Overall, a good day of good news!

I hope she gets to go home so that she can spend more one-on-one time with her family. I know that it's been hard on you with work and everything, but I'm glad that you were able to spend some time with your mom. I'm not sure how much your mom remembers me, but please let her know how much I am thinking and praying for her--and really--all of you.

Wow! That's a lot of good news! I am soooo happy that your mom can finally go home. I was thinking about her today and wondering if today would be the day as hoped. Well, tomorrow is just as good. Congrats to Amanda!! How exciting that she had a baby girl. How fun to have a new little niece. :-) Our thoughts and prayers will continue to be with your family as your mom continues her fight! We definitely need to go to the Romp to Stomp this Winter and do the 5k in honor of your strong mother. She is an amazing woman!! Love you. xoxo
