Some days there won't be a song in your heart.  Sing anyway.  ~Emory Austin

My dad's official update from yesterday:
Since the last update, here's what has been going on.

Friday was the day for test results to start coming back. Unfortunately, blood tests were all inconclusive regarding where the source of the cancer is. Other tests had to wait until Monday and when she was feeling better. Lisa had a rough weekend - nausea and vomiting came back so she couldn't eat much and what she ate didn't stay down. The doctors put her on a liquid diet in an attempt to slowly get her intestines to begin working again after the surgery. One doctor was comforting is saying he was surprised she was eating some of the things she did a couple of days after surgery. Given the major nature of the surgery, it was entirely expected to be slow in wanting to eat and have the digestive system function very quickly. The cancer on the intestines further causes the slowness to respond. Her appetite is still largely nonexistent, but she is at least trying to eat here and there and get some much needed nutrition. She has a new appreciation for Jello and fruit juices.
Monday, she was eating a bit and the doctors were anxious to continue testing and ordered a mammogram and another CT scan. The mammogram came back negative. For the CT scan, the challenge was drinking a liter of barium gunk and keep it down. Prayer, a little relaxation, and being distracted with a Disney movie allowed her to suck it down. Unfortunately, the scan results didn't show anything. That normally would be good, but given that treatment is contingent on finding the primary source of the cancer, it's not helpful. They attempted to do a MRI, but that required Lisa to lay on her stomach for 30 minutes and it was quickly clear that that wouldn't be possible. It looks like the doctors are going with their best guess and will begin chemotherapy soon. More will be known tomorrow when the medical oncologist comes by. That may also include a release date.

Tonight, she has eaten more in one meal than she has at any time in the past week. She is taking walks 2-3 times a day around the halls of the hospital.

Overall, Lisa's attitude is good. She has her moments of distress, but generally maintains a positive, hopeful outlook.
We very much appreciate the prayers, concern and well wishes on Lisa's behalf. If anything causes tears to come, it is when we feel the love of so many wonderful people. We feel the strength and power of prayer and feel sustained through this ordeal. We know our Savior lives and that he is aware our trials and will strengthen and help us to better learn of Him and appreciate His loving sacrifice for us.
