Beijing Olympic Park
The Ice Cube, the Bird's Nest... famous for their role in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, are just as cool-- maybe more cool-- in person. The Ice Cube is almost translucent but reflective (it's very odd) and the Bird's Nest is pretty huge. To get onto the plaze you have to go through two security bag checks- which are always intimidating, because, well, it's CHINA and they all look so gosh darn intimidating as they x-ray your bag and stare you down. Around the really long plaza are some new buildings that look super high tech- including a series of five buildings that resemble a dragon. The "tail" is a 7-star hotel. 7-star? You ask. Apparently, there is one 7 star hotel in the world... can't even imagine how costly that would be!
