family togetherness

Seven kids and two grandkids hanging out before dinner
Yesterday was the day we've all been waiting for: Family Pictures! We did have a professional photographer but I took my camera along and snapped a few groupings we didn't get with him. Mom was holding on and was an amazing trooper for the hour we were at Layton Park.
Mom and Dad

Mom and her five daughters
Mom and her boys

Mom and the "little kids" (the ones who live at home)

Alan's family

Sisters (and a niece)

When we got home, Mom gave her grandbabies blankets she'd made for them.
Alan's wife and daughter (she LOVES Dora!)

Amanda's kids
Mom got through the pictures and is now letting go. Her morphine has been doubled and she's also on another pain med. Last night all the kids ended up in her room and we all sat on her bed and had what I guess is "the good bye talk". It was incredibly special, spiritual, and specifically for us. She's been such an incredible fighter and has hung on for much longer than she should have and while she's devastated to have to leave her family, she's tired and she knows that she's headed for a time of great rejoicing as she gets to be with her mom and dad and grandparents again.

We are literally counting the minutes we have left with her as she is no longer taking visitors and is spending most of her time in bed. She is ready and we are doing our best to let her go.

Adrienne, What a wonderful family you have. You all look so beautiful/handsome. Your Mom sure is a trooper, she looks so pretty in the pictures. I can't believe how much Amanda looks like your Mom and Alan looks just like your Dad. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with you and your family. You have me all choked up looking at these pictures and reading this post. How wonderful that you and all your siblings were able to share that special time with your Mom on her bed. Thank Goodness for the Gospel. Love, Jamie (Roti) Beatty

Adrienne, I'm so glad I was able to talk to your Mom the other night. Lisa, you sounded so strong and positive, just like always. You are such a wonderful example to all who know you. Look at you, making blankets for your grandbabies. How sweet you are. They have such a wonderful heritage. We are praying for the strength and comfort that you are all in need of at this time.
We love you,
Carol Dedelow and family

Adrienne,
I just wanted you to know that I have been following your blog for a long time and have been "mourning with those that mourn" for months. I'm not much for comments, but I wanted you to know that your Mom's story has affected me and helped me remember what is really important in life. I subscribe to a few blogs, but it is always so real to read yours and to think about what is going on in your family. (The other blogs pale in comparison!) I know it doesn't seem like much good can come out of a situation like this, but you can know that my kids have had a better mother because of your posts and the story of your family. (Did you know I have an Amanda of my own?) I see my family in a different light and I am more patient and loving with them when I remember how special life is and how precious our time together is. Thanks to you and your mom for that.
Love, Shauntell

Please whisper in your mom's ear that Laura Duncan has always admired her and count myself blessed for the times we shared back in Oviedo. Strange how things take a turn down a different path than what we would have chosen but one thing I do know for certain is that Heavenly Father knows of each of us and is mindful of our needs and desires. Keep on trusting Him.
We love your family.

Adrienne, There are so many people that have been influenced by your mom and the wonderful example that she gave of service and love. I just want you to know that you and your family are in our prayers. I have thought of you often and hope that you can feel the peace and love of Heavenly Father. Please tell her how much the Warburton family loves her.

Please give you whole family our love and let your mom know that Venita is trying so hard to be like her. She is a wonderful example to all of us who have had the fortunate opportunity to know her and to love her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Love, The Dimmick Family
